This division is just as much of a crapshoot as the southeast. The only thing is that Kings should finish first. Thought to predict, as most thought four of these teams would have 100+ points last season, and I believe Hotstove had that as part of the over under blog.

My guess:

1. L.A. Kings
2. Dallas Stars
3. San Jose Sharks
--------------------
4. Anaheim Ducks
5. Phoenix Coyotes

Close between 2/3/4 though. A couple of pieces added via trade or waivers and I really like the Stars roster.

Fixed that. He's actually erroneously listed on ESPN's site as an unsigned FA.

people been sayin coyotes fail every year for awhile now. myself included.
but they keep making the dance. the yotes and the preds are obviously well run franchises from a hockey standpoint.

good gm, great coach-good system to start with. along with a deep defence and great goaltending.
they'll prob make the playoffs somehow even without adding a forward or 2. if doan signs and they get one decent top 6, id bet on em getting in.

I know, but it's just my opinion but the time has come. I have a hard believing Mike Smith replicates the season he had, but they can still prove me wrong, and there's a good chance they prove me wrong. I don't think they'll be bottom feeders, I think somewhere around 12. Think the Pacific turns out similar to last year where it was pretty tight all along.

I just don't see it next year, especially with Whitney out. They have the defensive system to win games but I don't think it will last this year. They were exposed in the playoffs and Smith isn't exactly a goalie I'd bank on either.

By the eventual champs who pretty much dominated throughout.
They made the final four.

This is a squad where on paper it's easy to say no chance. And they could certainly nosedive. But year after year they get counted out, and still make the dance.
Didnt they win the division last year?

LA just doesn't win division titles. Since their inception I believe they've won the division once. I don't expect that to change despite winning the cup. San Jose wins by default.

Phoenix - Defense and coaching are just too good for them to tumble very far. I won't take this team for granted

Dallas - Toss up between them and Anaheim. Acquiring the All-AARP roster doesn't make them contenders to me. These teams could flip-flop.

The sharks are built for the regular season and after last year will put their all into a better performance, but does any one think the sharks are cup bound?

The kings are going to have a stanley cup hangover. pure and simple.

Anaheim will be better - they have a solid hard hitting D, not as mobile as before but not as bad either. The Perry, Getzlaf, Ryan combo can only be better.

Phoenix... Mike Smith can't repeat that season, and their offence is down a peg. Aucoin and Whitney are big losses in the leadership department, and if Doan goes, so does the franchise.

Dallas - simply lost their sandpaper character guys. Morrow is going to have to do it himself. Jagr and Whitney are nice, but not without somesort of gritty supporting cast.

There is still Daley and Fristic who are quite the bangers, and there is Jamie Benn. The kid hits, scores, fights and forechecks. Morrow isn't alone, but without Ott it might not be as noticeable.

What I was getting at is the teams not soft. They might have added 3 skill players in order to push them over the top, but the team is still a scrappy and aggressive team. And Daley is no push over, albeit he doesn't hit everything that moves. He'll do what needs to be done.

For Whitney and Roy is not a big step either. Can't say that
I really know their team well, but do know those incoming guys
